The Source for Women

The anchor ministry of Farrington Mission is The Source for Women, a holistic women’s healthcare center. The northeast location reaches many women and unborn babies every month and is saving the lives of children and providing hope to mothers. This Christ-centered pregnancy medical clinic aims at helping women make healthy choices about their unborn children but also cares for women’s physical, mental, and spiritual well being. There are many opportunities to serve as a volunteer at this center but you must volunteer through The Source for Women directly. Their website is

Food Pantry

This ministry currently offers food to needy families in the Fifth Ward and in the surrounding communities every Monday night. The majority of the food comes from local churches and other organizations who collect specific items that are donated and from the Houston Food Bank. The food is then sorted and handed out on Monday nights. During the process, families are prayed with and spiritual needs are addressed. Churches can get involved through food drives (see Food Pantry Grocery list) or by volunteering to serve at the mission. For more information about how you can help in this ministry, email

Clothes Closet

Part of the mission has been designated as a clothes closet for needy families. This ministry closely works with the food pantry during the intake process. As families come to the mission they are received through our intake system and their need for food and clothing is evaluated. Volunteers walk each individual and/family through the closet assisting them in picking out clothes and shopping for the items they need. This hands-on approach gives our team an opportunity to provide hope to those who need it most. Occasionally the mission is in need of seasonal clothing from children through adults. Basketball Open Gym

This ministry takes place on Thursdays nights in our gym. The importance of reaching men and boys in the Fifth Ward and surrounding community cannot be overemphasized. This open gym is organized with “pick-up” games and a designated devotional time. The team serving here takes part in mentoring young men in a group setting and playing basketball with all those who attend. The point person for this ministry is Jody Palmer, you can email him at

One of the guiding principles at Farrington Mission is to do the most we can with the facility we have. The facility and grounds must be clean and fully functional every week. The maintenance team is organized to both actively clean the facility and perform maintenance. We are in need of a group of individuals who will take care of minor repairs and maintenance. This team will perform on an “as needed” basis. For more information about how you can help in this ministry, email
